This year has been quite special. Do you remember our pictures of grape veraison taken last July? Sultry, hot dry August speeded up the grape ripening, so that in Gratallops (DOQ Priorat), some vineyards reached perfect conditions for being cropped late in August – first thing in September. Although it hardly rained this year, we’ve harvested impressive amounts of Grenache, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Following the Devinssi Winery tradition of each year, the grape crops have been picked by hand under the hands-on supervision by the wine-maker and oenologist Josep Roca. Some of our grapevines’ adopters collaborated eagerly and merrily in the harvesting and combined it with practising some wine tourism and learning more about the Priorat landscape, culture and cuisine. We prepared special tasting and pairing sessions for the harvesters to get a glimpse into the art of matching our wines with some local cooking – all this conducted by our friend sommelier Patricio Ramos and the famous chef Xavier Ribot.
