"Salou Cup 2011" Presentation

On 06 June, 2011, the Museum and Study Centre of Sport Doctor Melcior Colet, hosted the International Junior Handball Tournament “Salou Cup 2011”, which is to take place in this Costa Daurada town between 30 June and 03 July.
Started and lead by Andrey Xepkin, ex F.C. Barcelona player with a striking trophy record, the contest brings together 8 top junior European teams to be virtually a “Champions League”.

After the lead-in and the speeches made by the Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, General Secretary of Sports, Ivan Tibau, and Andrey Xepkin, a draw was held for the qualifying rounds with the participation of Senator Josep Maldonado, President of Esport Solidari Internacional. Once the formal stage had come to closure, the participants turned to tasting the wines provided by the Taula Selecció wine shop and the DEVINSSI winery, del D.O.Q. Priorat, and savouries featuring “Simón Martín Nieto” ham from Guijuelo (Salamanca), all these being part of the event’s sponsors.
Partakers treated their palates to some 2008 Mas de les Valls DOQ Priorat, Cava Parató Brut and 2010 Diviño, an Albarino from Rias Baixas.
The act enjoyed the presence of Enric Masip, the F.C. Barcelona handball technical secretary, and that of Tomàs Moral, the President of the Catalan Handball Federation, among other figures.
