International wine fair Forum Vini (Munich, 11-13 November, 2011)

Català - Castellano

On November 11-13, DOQ Priorat wines from the Devinssi Winery will be introduced at the Forum Vini 2011 international wine fair in Munich.
Our participation in this event is due to one of our German client’s personal effort (Rainer Froch of Der Weinzwerg, Munich) in close collaboration with Excelling Wines.
Forum Vini 2011 visitants will be tasting Il·lia 2007 and Mas de les Valls 2008. Apart from that, one of our sister wineries will be displaying Diviño 2009 (albariño, DO Rias Baixas). The co-exhibitors’ stall number is 3-A28 (click here to see the top plan).
As you may well remember, this year our Mas de les Valls 2006 (DOQ Priorat wine, stocks totally sold out to date) has been awarded a silver medal at the international wine competition Mundus Vini 2011 (Germany), which underscores once and again the quality of the wines coming from the Tarragona area as a whole and from the DOQ Priorat wine appellation in particular.
See you soon at the Forum Vini 2011 wine fair!

Wine tours and la Castanyada in Gratallops, DOQ Priorat – Devinssi Winery

Català - Castellano

The grape harvest being over, autumn is making more and more advances in Priorat, with vine leaves turning bright yellow and red. All Saints' Day (la Castanyada, or Chestnut Day) is coming closer, with its sweet wine, panellets, sweet potatoes, persimmons... and roast chestnuts playing the main part.
This year, the Castanyada long weekend (29 October – 01 November) is a great chance to learn more about Catalan inland and to have a wine short-break in autumnal Priorat enjoying its landscape’s unconventional splendour: to take a walk through the slate-stone terrasses and costers and see the grapevines unwind after the harvest time, to make new friends with people who toil this land and – certainly – taste and buy wines onsite, straight from the winer-maker.
Our wine shop will be open throughout the Castanyada long weekend, every morning and afternoon. On 29 October – 01 November all Devinssi Winery visitors and all wine shoppers will be treated to a shot of Priorat mellow wine with each purchase or winery visit.
To book a visit to the Devinssi Winery, click here. To find us in Gratallops, please have a look at our access map.
We look forward to your visit to Gratallops and we wish you Bona Castanyada!
Oenotouristically Yours,

Wine shop in Gratallops, DEVINSSI winery

Dear wine enthusiasts and wine tourists,
A couple of months ago we told you that DEVINSSI winery reopened its wine shop in the village of Gratallops (DOQ Priorat). The street address is 52, Piró, right at the entrance to the village. During the business hours (Saturday and Sunday, 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) you can taste and buy wines from DEVINSSI.
We’ve also included more products from sister wineries. Why not have some sips of refreshing DIVIÑO, an albariño white from DO Rias Baixas? What is more, the design for DIVIÑO dawned upon Josep Roca (the brand owner) here in Gratallops, and it was developed here, in the Devinssi winery, too. The picture of this feather-light cloud on the label was actually taken from the Siurana cliff while it was floating over Priorat.
Plus, we’ve made over the interior with some new furniture to better display the produce and to taste wines more cosily. In our wine shop, you can find information about grapevine adoption – a novelty we launched this year and that has already become feasible: our first “guardians” have already had their wines delivered, and they’ll get in short their first, or second, customised newsletter. Dear vine guardians, why not visit your adopted plants? The next upcoming chance to take care of them will be during the grape harvest, in mid-to-end of September.
This summer, we’ve been having our hands full with visits to the winery and vineyards. We’ve hosted multiple wine tasters and vineyard visitors, some of them even made the whole wine route of the paths of Gratallops (which features our wine shop). At Devinssi, we always host arranged visits to the winery, that’s why to check date and time availability, please drop us a line at our website: visits to the winery.
Viticulturally Yours, Devinssi Winery

Gratallops paths, Priorat , Catalonia, Spain. DEVINSSI WINERY Winescape Route

Wine route, Gratallops, DOQ Priorat, Wine Tourism, Josep Roca, WikilocCatalà - Castellano

We’re very pleased to share this walking route (3.6 miles) with our friends – lovers of wine, nature, and Priorat picturesque slopes, – the vine-and-wine tour that starts in our winery in an old quarter of Gratallops, with virtually all town restaurants and hotels being at hand, and takes you as far as the Les Planes estate overlooking the southern DOQ Priorat domains and the villages of El Lloar and Bellmunt del Priorat.

On this walking route, you will cross grapevine, olive and almond tree plantations, groves of oaks, poplars and pines, and moors full of aromatic herbs, asparaguses or blackberries... What are the main points of interest that you will discover?

Wine route, Gratallops, DOQ Priorat, Wine Tourism, Josep Roca, Wikiloc1. Outset point: DEVINSSI WINERY. Get an insight into the artisanal wine making. Nearly everything is worked by hand and the annual output is averaging 10,000 bottles, which allows for strict quality control of our designer wine. The winery tour is guided by our winery keeper Sergi Romero or the founder of the business and wine-designer Josep Roca.

Wine route, Gratallops, DOQ Priorat, Wine Tourism, Josep Roca, Wikiloc2. Finca Rocapoll (Rocapoll Estate). It’s a very old sloping vineyard planted over five decades ago. The Carignan vines’ trunks take curious twisted forms and rise from between pebbles of llicorella (slate stone or bluestone). Crops from these plants play the sole and exclusive role in making Rocapoll, Vi de la Vila de Gratallops (village wine). Once you’re on the very top of the plot, you can enjoy the spectacular Priorat winescape stretching to the steep, cliffy skyline of the Montsant Range and Llangossets Range. As well, you can have a glass of cava with some local snacks in our cosy hut or grab a bite around the outdoor table.

Wine route, Gratallops, DOQ Priorat, Wine Tourism, Josep Roca, Wikiloc3. Finca Les Planes (Les Planes Estate). This plot brings together several different areas. On its very top, stroll through a heath full of aromatic herbs and sniff their balmy scents. We keep it up untouched on purpose to take leisurely walks at any time of the year. Straight below the road, you’ll find some Grenache terrasses (terraces, large steps) and costers (slopes). Next, a couple of Cabernet patches enjoying ample and quite close views of El Lloar, Bellmunt del Priorat , and, a bit further to the north, Gratallops. AIt’s here that we find the Il•lia Tree, a dry almond tree raising its bent branches above the vineyards.

Wine route, Gratallops, DOQ Priorat, Wine Tourism, Josep Roca, Wikiloc4. The final bends of the circuit lie within the Gratallops, nucleus, where you can come by the DEVINSSI WINERY outlet offering wines and local products. And indulge in some wine tasting, too!

We look forward to hosting your wine tours in Priorat! For bookings, please contact us here.

DEVINSSI wine shop in Gratallops, Priorat, Spain

In the early 2009, we opened our first straight-from-the-cellar wine shop in the Plaça d’Església (Church Square), the central crossroads of Gratallops. We keep very pleasant memories of that outlet. Here are a couple of pictures we took there.

In 2010, we took advantage of the great chance to move our shop right to Gratallops gateway and meeting point: 52, Piró Str., overlooking the "wolf pine" and the cultural centre.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating, so visitors can taste and purchase DEVINSSI wines here. Plus, some Tarragona typical products are on display.
Business hours are on Saturdays and Sundays 10.30-14.00. As well, we can arrange a visit on your request. There are some public parking spaces outside the shop. We look forward to your custom!
